Oscar De La Hoya, a legendary figure in American boxing, has made his name among the sport’s greats by securing over 11 world titles in 6 different weight classes. Yet, beyond his immense success inside the ring, his life has been marred by controversies outside of it.

Among the dark chapters that surfaced in De La Hoya’s life was a leaked set of cross-dressing pictures in 2007, captured by Siberian exotic dancer Milana Dravnel. At first, De La Hoya disavowed the authenticity of the images, but in a recent turn of events, he finally admitted to being the subject of those controversial photos.

In an interview with ET ahead of the premiere of the two-part documentary, “The Golden Boy,” on HBO starting July 24, De La Hoya revealed intriguing details about the incident. He disclosed that he paid a substantial sum of money to prevent the release of the pictures, fearing that they would tarnish his image and lead to public backlash.

“They told me this story about the Russian mob and this and that and [how] we gotta pay millions of dollars…I’m like, ‘Yeah, well, just make it go away. It’s gonna ruin my image. It’s gonna ruin who the Golden Boy is, and people are gonna hate me. Just make it go away,” confessed De La Hoya.

Following the leak, Milana Dravnel filed a lawsuit against De La Hoya. The case was ultimately settled, with De La Hoya reportedly paying around 20 million dollars to ensure her silence on the matter. Despite his efforts to suppress the truth, the scandalous revelations had far-reaching consequences for the boxer.

Marie also pursued legal action against De La Hoya, filing a $5 million lawsuit. However, her case was ultimately dismissed by the court, and she was ordered to pay $500 as the defendant’s attorney fees.
