AEW has seen a ton of growth over the course of four years and it continues to make history with their upcoming events. AEW All In is certainly the company’s biggest event yet and it made history in many ways. That being said, Tony Khan clarified the controversy surrounding AEW All In’s attendance.
Tony Khan previously announced 81,035 fans as the attendance for AEW All In at Wembley. However, it was revealed that AEW tacked on 10k fans in the attendance record, as it turned out the official numbers were inflated.
While speaking during the post-ROH Final Battle Media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan once again addressed the controversy about AEW All In’s attendance figures after being asked about it.
Tony Khan stated that he never heard of anyone posting a turnstile count, adding that there are many ways to get into a show and that he spoke to many people who bought tickets that did not have to go through the turnstiles.
“I have news for you. When people posted the number of people that go through the turnstiles, I’ve never heard of somebody posting a “turnstile count”. Like, there’s so many ways to get into a show and there’s so many people I talked to that bought tickets that did not have to go through the turnstiles. But take that aside for a second. The turnstile count, that is so normal.“
“For North American pro sports, even if it was 73 out of 81, that would be over the average of a show rate for North American pro sports. So if you take the average like Big Four pro sports game in America versus like the tickets purchased and then the people who actually go through the gate, people will talk like that was abnormal.”
AEW All In at Wembley for next year has already distributed close to 40K tickets, so it is likely the event will end up being a major hit, similar to this year’s All In. We’ll have to wait and see how AEW will book their shows in the coming months till then.
